Support Group Norms:

  • Confidentiality – we will respect one another’s privacy by not discussing what is talked about in the group outside of the group.
  • Sensitivity – we will not monopolize the group’s time, aware that each participant should have the same opportunity to speak and be heard as we do.
  • Present – we will carefully listen to others without interruption. Audio will be muted when we are not speaking so as not to interrupt the participant that is talking.
  • Respect – we will not offer opinions/advice about what others should do or criticize their choices. By doing so, we respect each other’s need for choice and control.
  • Responsibility – we are responsible for our own experience and take ownership in that by speaking when we need to speak (using “I” statements to describe our own experience) and being quiet when we need to be quiet.
